“We can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.”
My understanding
Life is full of waves, unpredictable and unstoppable. I can’t control whether they come or how strong they’ll be. Sometimes they’re gentle, easy, and calm. Other times, they're intense, overwhelming, and relentless. But no matter their strength, I always have the power to learn how to surf.
Bruce Lee once beautifully expressed, “Be water, my friend.” Water adapts effortlessly, shaping itself around obstacles and flowing through even the smallest cracks. Similarly, each wave in life teaches me patience, resilience, and courage. Rather than resisting change, I can choose to flow with it, turning challenges into opportunities for growth and self-discovery.
The power lies in how I respond. I can fight endlessly, tiring myself out, or I can choose to become stronger and wiser through experience.
Ultimately, every wave holds a lesson, guiding me to become better, wiser, and more confident.
Life isn’t about controlling the waves but mastering the skill to ride them gracefully, just as water navigates its path.

"You cannot control the behavior of others, but you can always choose how you respond to it.". People might say or do things I don’t like, but their actions don’t have to decide how I feel or respond.

From Steve Jobs, "The key thing to remember about me is that I’m still a student, I’m still in boot camp.". Growth never stops. Seeing myself as a student keeps me curious, resilient, and open to endless learning.
