“There may be people that have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do.”
⏤ Derek Jeter
My understanding
It is a powerful reminder that hard work matters more than talent alone. I find it motivating because it shifts the focus from what we can’t control (like how talented others might be) to what we can control -> our effort and commitment.
In my own life, I’ve seen this play out. Sometimes I’ve felt outmatched by others who seemed naturally gifted, but putting in the time and effort always leveled the playing field.
It’s a reminder that success isn’t just about what you’re born with. It’s about showing up every day, putting in the work, and refusing to quit.
